Medical Skills-Freshmen
Medical Skills is the freshmen class for Health Academy. It is an introduction to Health Careers. There are many opportunities to volunteer in school health screenings. TAV (Teenage Volunteers) is a summer volunteer program at Gulf Breeze Hospital where the students put in at least 50 hours during the summer. This starts in their freshmen year and they can continue each summer through high school. This is optional.
Students learn CPR and how to take vital signs, infection control, medical terminology, as well as other related subjects. This is a very good opportunity to "get their feet wet" and see if the medical profession is for them. See syllabus below.
